Whether you are a first timer or a regular lash connoisseur we think it’s important that you have all the right information to help you take care of your lashes. The answer to ‘How long will they last? mostly comes down to you and what you do to them.
Here are 3 points you must look close:
-
If you regularly do bad things to them your eyelids can become itchy from the buildup of dead skin if they are not cleaned regularly.
-
Eyelash extensions that have been coated in mascara don’t look that great.
-
If you look after your lashes you won’t need to come in as frequently for infill appointments, which will save you money.
DO
- Try not to touch them much.
- Keep them as dry as possible for at least 24-36 hours.
- Avoid steamy environments, very hot showers, spas, saunas etc. for 24 hours as a minimum.
- Avoid rubbing your eyes. After the 24 hour they are technically waterproof, but they probably won’t last as long as if you rub them when water gets in your eyes.
- If you have a very oily face, try to control this as much as possible because your natural oils can damage the eyelash glue.
- Use only oil-free products on your face, removers and cleansers.
- Clean them properly, at least a few times a week.
DON’T
- Play with, rub or pick at your lashes roughly.
- Use oily products.
- Use waterproof or oil based mascara or eyeliner.
- Use any mascara.
- Use baby wipes/makeup wipes to wipe makeup off them
- Try to remove them yourself.
- Use cleansing oils.
- Put strip lashes on top of them.
- Try to light a cigarette on your toaster or stove-top (good life advice generally).
What is normal
- some individuals with sensitivities can experience minor redness and dry eye Immediately after the lash application.
- It’s normal lose a couple of lashes every day. The extension falls out attached to the natural lash when it is ready to come out, and a new baby lash takes its place.
- Some lash growth cycles are faster than others.
- No two sets of lashes are identical. We customize the styling, sizes, weights and curls to every individuals.
- Expect between 2 – 4 weeks before you need an infill. Shorter lashes usually last longer too.
What’s not normal
- If you experience intense itching and or red/swollen eyelids in the first few days after the application. This could be an allergic reaction. Consult your professional and ask for guidance.
- Excessive shedding of extensions off the natural lashes in the first few days. You may need a different type of glue.
- If you find your eyes sometimes feel gritty and sandy this can mean that you really need to clean your lashes more properly.
Infills
If you want to maintain your lashes, you will require infills. Lasting depends on factors such as:
- The more lashes you apply, the longer they last.
- How you treat them.
- Your lash cycle and how fast you are growing lashes.
- Your skin type (oilier skins usually shed lashes faster).
